What's splitting the Reagan coalition?

How is it that a successful conservative governor who wants to eliminate the IRS, defend the sanctity of life and marriage, appoint judges like Scalia and Roberts, and fight Islamic fascism to the finish is running third in the Republican primaries?

Answer: Since mid-November of 2007, there has been a push by the conservative "new media" to destroy the Republican opponents of Mitt Romney.

The dominant conservative publication The National Review had set the tone for this by endorsing Mitt Romney. Around the same time, Rush Limbaugh was visiting his idol from childhood, William Buckley, the founder of The National Review and considered by many to be the founder of the modern conservative movement.
Within days, Rush Limbaugh and other "conservative" talk show hosts and columnists were excoriating Huckabee.

Instead of offering an honest analysis of Huckabee's political career, they sought to portray him as a hayseed born-againer who loved raising taxes and wanted to bring about an Orwellian Big Brother state.

In the meantime, Romney decided to go negative against Huckabee in Iowa, where Huckabee had grabbed the lead. Romney's attack ads were a blatantly dishonest attempt to portray Huckabee as a crime loving tax-raiser, and, coupled with the constant barrage of misinformation from the talk shows, alienated a core constituent group of social conservatives who correctly recognized the attacks on Huckabee as a slam against themselves and their values.

The rift that is now splitting the conservatives will not be healed during this election process. The Christian right and the FairTax activists now see that they are welcome just as long as they go along with the Republican establishment. To think that someone like Huckabee who represents these groups should be president is considered heresy by the elitists who want to control the nomination process.

The secular elitists who enjoy the posh lifestyle and rubbing elbows with political snobs are embarrassed that grass-roots activists like conservative Christians and FairTaxers are in their tent and are succeeding in driving them out, ensuring that a liberal, be it Romney, McCain, Clinton, or Obama will be in the White House next year.

Political Correctness, Yes; Free Speech, No

The politically correct movement in America continues to run a muck.

Something as innocent as being painted in black face, like Al Jolson is in the photo to the left, has become a "hate crime".

The liberals in our great country are doing their best to undermine our freedom of speech by determining what language is acceptable and unacceptable, and who is allowed to use or not use certain words.

Instead of bringing unity, the proponents of political correctness continue to divide the country by classifying people according to race, sexual orientation, political ideology, social class, and national or ethnic origin.

Here's a couple items from this week that prove that "political correctness" is nothing more than an attempt to stifle free speech in America.

LaShawn Barber has a stinging essay on the uproar created by the NAACP and one of it's members, Gary Hines.

The controversy surrounds a 1939 play called Ten Little Niggers, renamed Ten Little Indians, and then renamed again And Then There Were None.

A 9 year old boy was suspended from an Arizona school for the "hate crime" of calling blacks "brown people".

If you read the full story, you'll find that the boy was coerced into using the phrase "brown people" by the mother of the boy he had a problem with, and she's a detention room officer at the very same school! Well isn't that convenient!

Talk show host Michael Savage is under attack from liberals and Muslims, particularly CAIR, for his diatribes against the cult of Islam.

CAIR is leading the charge to get Savage fired from his job, joining a growing movement that is taking aim at conservative talk radio.

If Hillary is elected in '08, don't be surprised to see the attack on talk radio ratcheted up, since it's the most powerful source of conservative ideology today.

Hillary Bombs:Panic in the Liberal Wasteland

Listening to the "progressive" Ed Schultz radio show this afternoon, I came away convinced that the Republican nominee can beat Hillary after her dreadful performance in Tuesday's big debate.

Callers to his show were livid that she couldn't state her position on the NY driver license flap, and not releasing her records from her White House days was also a big turn-off for them.

And now her whining publicly and in a political advertisement about her rough treatment by "the boys" and Tim Russert (hope he's wearing a bullet-proof vest these days) is making liberals think twice about supporting her.

Several of the callers, formerly supporters of the Hill-de-beast, were now disgusted by her school-girl antics and seemed to warm up to John Edwards and Chris Dodd. (As much as I don't like his politics, Dodd seems to be the only one up there who has a brain)

Another point of contention was her using this debacle to try to raise more money; every time somebody says something negative about a democrat, they feel the urge to raise more money from their constituency.

I think that liberals are waking up to the fact that Hillary is an empty pant-suit, something conservatives have known all along.

The Huckabee Buzz

All the good political buzz seems to be about Mike Huckabee these days.

Dick Morris has had two articles in one week about Mike, the latest being The Huckabee Boomlet.

Tuesday, Newt Gingrich was singing Mike's praises on the Neal Boortz radio show.

You've got all the "dark horse" candidate talk going around also thanks to Bill Clinton.

Ann Coulter, WND, and other candidates starting to fire on Mike shows they are worried about his growing strength in the field and Mike's campaign is starting to gain momentum with October being the highest fund-raising month so far.

I would expect to see an increase in attacks on Huckabee this November as the bullseye on his back grows in proportion to his momentum.

Liberals "Patriots"?

Maybe you've heard the Ed Schultz Show? I tuned in for the first time Wednesday and here's what I heard from two callers:

Caller 1: "I Hate America and that makes me patriotic"
Idiotic yes, patriotic no

Caller 2: "I really support Dennis Kucinich...I'm not proud to be an American and I've given up hope"
Wow, can I help this guy pack and move to Cuba, where he might feel more at home...

Other liberal callers expressed their outrage at the lack of leadership of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and were pissed that Congressman Stark apologized for his stupid remarks on the floor of the House last week. It's good hear the dismay on the left wing.

But don't call into question their "patriotism"!!
